Hideaki Anno, Evangelion creator, has appologized for the delay in production for Rebuild finale Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0. Also, there has been hints floating around of part 4 to the film remake of the animated series.
Takeshi Honda, director of the film, recently said this at MCM London Comic Con:
There was a lot I wasn’t able to do during the TV series, so I was actually willing to do the feature film version so I could do what I really wanted to do. Throughout all of the film series so far I feel that I’ve done that and I’m quite happy to do more. I still have loads more I want to do that I didn’t do in the TV series, and the series is still continuing so there’s more I want to do.
Having said that, I’m older now and I can’t really do too much drawing with complicated lines as that’s now physically very hard, so I’m just hoping for Evangelion to end properly before I retire!
We’re actually working on the new Evangelion film right now. We’re working hard and it’ll come out eventually, so thanks for all of your patience – please continue to be patient, because it’s going to be the last episode.
Spoken like a champ, Takeshi’s words are truly inspirational. Even though he’s getting up there in his years, he still cares enough to finish what he started with the Evangelion series. That’s some dedication, he’s not even the creator of the series and he cares this much.
