Based off of a report done by the Hollywood Reporter, the rights to the Sword Art Online or SAO live-action TV series have been sold to a company called Skydance Television. Wonder if Kirito is still going to be Asian in the live-action series. Probably not, but interested to see what happens. Either this is going to be a complete flop or it’s going to be one of the best TV shows ever.

Skydance describes the project

It follows a young beta tester named Kirito and his group of friends when they are suddenly trapped — alongside 10,000 other people — in a next-generation virtual reality online role-playing game. The game is a world unto itself: filled with sword fighting, monsters, magic and mystery, where the stakes are life and death. Kirito and an ensemble of diverse characters must fight their way through this hostile environment while making lives for themselves in the fantastical world that is Sword Art Online.
