Samurai Champloo OP #1 Battlecry by Nujabes

Mugen is a ferocious, animalistic warrior with a fighting style inspired by break-dancing. Jin is a ronin samurai who wanders the countryside alone. They may not be friends, but their paths continually cross. And when ditzy waitress Fuu gets them out of hot water with the local magistrate, they agree to join her search for the samurai who smells like sunflowers.

Mugen is a free-style swordsmen, while Jin is a samurai who has refined his craft. These two have teamed up to help Fuu. She’s the glue that holds them together somehow.

However, there are some people in this world you just can’t break, you can’t tell them what to do, they only know how to do what they want when they want, and they don’t take anything from anybody. That’s Mugen and Jin, they’d rather die than give anyone an inch.

The style of this OP is unique and really draws in the viewer. Swords, dice, slashing, awesome fight scenes, etc. and tripy images.

The creator of Samurai Champloo was actually a huge fan of Nujabes who wrote the song for this OP, “Battlecry.” There have been rumors floating around that the episodes of Samurai Champloo are actually composed like an album.
