Ninendo’s Shigure Miyamoto is the creator of the Mario and Zelda franchises, but he also worked as a producer for the original Pokemon games at one time. He explains that the first Pokemon games took more than six years to develop and that he had been working on the project six years before the first release.

Miyamoto goes on to elaborates as to why it took so long to create the first Pokemon games; at the time he was working on Earthbound (possibly one of the greatest RPGs ever created and may even be more popular than Pokemon; at least in Japan) and once Earthbound was completed he could finally focus on the Pokemon games. Miyamoto displays his humbleness in the video expressing his thankfulness to all the fans that have supported Pokemon throughout the years.
