To help fans understand the latest Deadpool trailer director Tim Miller breaks it down. It takes place in Detroit, “Deadpool tells the story of Wade Wilson who is left with accelerated healing but all around messed up after he agrees to an experimental procedure.” Now Deadpool is loose and ready to hunt down the people who did this to him.
Deadpool’s Detroit: The director describes Detroit as “a pre-post apocalyptic Detroit. “There are geographical clues in the story that everybody knows the X-men live upstate New York-ish and so they can’t be too far away. But the idea is that it should be a sh*ty place because you want to set Deadpool and his world apart as something different: gritter, nastier, you know, more like Deadpool where it’s down in the streets where he’s dealing with small-time sh*t that the X-Men and their shiny hi-tech world don’t deal with.”
The “Cant-Sit-Still” Hero: “Deadpool is like a kid with ADD who’s had too much sugar and now can’t sit still.” Director continues, “he’s constantly fidgety and trying to entertain himself. I’m sure there’s a word therapists have for kids who constantly need input! He’s definetly one of those guys.”
Weapons: Aside from using his katanas; deadpool uses the Desert Eagles. “If you haven’t heard of them, they weigh about fifty pounds each. They’re huge, heavy pistols that can blow your head apart. So yeah, they’re pretty powerful.”
The Naughty List: Deadpool is after a lot of people, and he has an entire wall dedicated to them.
Teenage Warhead: “I think Deadpool wishes she’d keep her mouth shut in the film! Because she’s snarky…but, you know, her whole attitude is this disaffected teen who thinks Deadpool is just a douchebag.” The director Miller explained that the writers wanted a trainee for Colossus, she’s a telepath with precognitive abilities. However, Miller wanted her powers to fit the name. “She can pack the force of an explosion downwards so she can move upwards–she can also put it in a punch if she wanted to.”
